Job Summary:Performs semi-skilled work of service connections and disconnections, investigations, installations, and minor maintenance/repair.Responsibilities:Work on various tickets and callsProcess work for service connections and disconnections, meter installation and pulls, investigations, minor maintenance/troubleshooting/repairsInvestigate and resolve meter maintenance and service problemsReport on tampering or illegal connections of serviceTroubleshoot meter or field-related issues affecting service parcelsReread meters in response to requests relative to high bills or other issues.May install or replace the meter at existing service lines.Removes mud, debris, and other matter from meter boxes or other encasements.Respond to emergency or after-hours calls and requestsParticipate in projects such as meter/lid modification/replacement, etc.Assists other departments or workload, and trains coworkers as neededWork a rotating on-call scheduleOperate, maintain, and inspect an assigned vehicle, phone, laptop, and other equipmentOperate some machinery, tools, and power toolsCommunicate work-related matters in a clear and professional mannerMaintain a professional appearanceEffectively and professionally communicate with customersPerforms other duties as assigned or requested.Qualifications:Valid Georgia driver's license with a clean driving recordHigh School Graduate or equivalent.Experience in field operations such as meter reading/repair, distribution, or related workKnowledge of the street locations in Macon-Bibb County and the service areasMust have flexibility to work a rotating, altered, or extended hours shift that includes weekendsAbility to analyze meter service problemsKnowledge of the principles of plumbingPhysical Requirements:Frequent driving, walking, bending, stooping, sitting, crawling, climbing, crouching, or balancingAbility to work in confined space conditionsAbility to lift to waist level, pull, and push up to 50 pounds, occasionally over 50 pounds.Use hands to grasp, write, draw, and operate equipment.Ability to grasp and holdAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and other employees.Ability to walk all day under varying climatic conditionsEnvironmental Working Conditions:The position requires some exposure to working outside, insect bites/stings, poisonous plants, and possibly reptiles.Frequent exposure to dry conditions, high and low humidity, wetness, and inclement weather.Exposure to dust, outside work, sunburn, and moving objects (such as heavy equipment or road traffic)Occasional exposure to working overwater or working at heightsExposure to chemicals includes, but is not limited to: Gasoline, Diesel Fuel, Motor Oil, Hydraulic Oil, Natural Gas, Exhaust fumes, Insecticides, Chlorine, Asphalt/Tar
