Job summary

Cherokee Federal is seeking a physician to perform comprehensive medical evaluations for MEPS applicants, ensuring OSHA, Privacy Act, DoD, and USMEPCOM compliance. Duties include detailed histories, exams, test interpretation, and coordination with staff. On-site MEPS duties at designated locations are required.

Positions require U.S. citizenship, CAC/PIV access, and the ability to pass DoD clearance. Multiple locations: Brooklyn NY, Portland ME, San Jose CA, Fort Dix NJ, Albany NY.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from US/Canada or equivalent.
• Current unrestricted medical license in a US state/territory.
• 3 years graduate training or equivalent experience in the specialty.
• CAC or PIV preferred.
• BLS training and certification required; ALS does not supersede BLS.
• Must pass credentialing and obtain clinical privileges.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with OSHA, Privacy Act, DoD and USMEPCOM standards.
• Review medical records, histories and exams; interpret tests and coordinate with consultants.
• Evaluate diagnostic tests to identify potential disqualifying conditions.
• Perform comprehensive in-person histories after prescreening and authorization.
• Assess injuries and disorders across body systems and conduct orthopedic‑neurological exams.
• Inform applicants of abnormal findings and provide written or personal communication.
• Update staff for entry into USMEPCOM databases.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
