Job summary

Cherokee Federal is seeking a physician to perform comprehensive MEPS medical evaluations for applicant screening in New Jersey. The role ensures compliance with OSHA, Privacy Act, DoD, and USMEPCOM standards, reviewing records, histories, and tests, and coordinating with medical staff.

Requirements include MD/DO, active US license, and post-degree clinical experience; CAC/PIV preferred. This is an on-site position with benefits and potential shift requirements.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from US/Canada; accredited by AMA/LCME or equivalent.
• Active medical license in a US state/territory.
• At least one year of supervised clinical experience after degree.
• 3 years of graduate training in the specialty or equivalent experience.
• Preference for CAC or PIV card.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records, histories, and physical exams per DoD standards.
• Interpret diagnostic tests and identify disqualifying conditions.
• Assess systems including dental, psychiatric, and behavioral; perform standardized orthopedic-neurological exams.
• Inform applicants of abnormal findings and coordinate with staff.
• Update USMEPCOM database with applicant information.
• Ensure OSHA and Privacy Act compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned; may require background suitability determination.
• Occasional early/late shifts and weekend work when needed.
