Job summary

Cherokee Federal is seeking a physician to perform comprehensive MEPS medical evaluations at multiple on-site locations, including Richmond, VA. The role requires strict adherence to OSHA, Privacy Act, DoD, and USMEPCOM standards with CAC eligibility to obtain security clearance.

You will review records, histories, order and interpret tests, and identify disqualifying conditions, communicating results to applicants and medical staff. On-site duties and credentialing compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited US/Canada program.
• Evidence of equivalency for foreign-trained physicians if applicable.
• Current, active license to practice as a physician in a US state or territory.
• At least 3 years of graduate training in the specialty or equivalent experience.
• CAC or PIV preferred; ability to obtain CAC for DoD clearance.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; advanced certifications do not supersede BLS.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with OSHA, Privacy Act, DoD, and USMEPCOM standards.
• Review medical records, histories, and exams; interpret diagnostic tests.
• Identify disqualifying conditions and communicate findings to staff/applicants.
• Perform in-person histories and orthopedic-neurological exams as needed.
• Directly inform applicants of abnormal findings and update databases.
