Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Assistant MEP Project Manager to support the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing scopes from bid through final client acceptance. The role partners with the Project Manager and leads project teams, driving cost control, schedule coordination, subcontractor management, and commissioning activities.

You will mentor staff, coordinate 3-D clash resolution, and ensure safe, on-time project delivery across complex MEP scopes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural, Mechanical, and/or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of related previous experience, preferably with a mechanical or electrical contractor.
• Proven ability to assist with all responsibilities for complex projects.
• Detail orientation to organize and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform cost control and financial management
• Work with Preconstruction on project estimate and schedule
• Coordinate scopes of work
• Review and compile pay applications, change requests, and other project financial documentation
• Draft client proposals
• Direct responsibilities and guide Field Engineer(s) and Project Engineer(s)
• Manage subcontractors and suppliers for the project
• Oversee budget and make subcontractor/trade partner recommendations
• Lead project buyout with subcontractors and trade partners
• Lead and direct the 3-D coordination process to resolve conflicts before installation
• Oversee commissioning process including start-up plan and testing
• Support project closeout with operations manuals and model turnover
