Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Mental Health Technician to support patient care in an inpatient setting. You will work under a RN, promoting patient safety and comfort while performing direct and indirect care across a variety of units, including crisis and emergency areas.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and completion of CNA/MA/PCT programs or enrollment in HM‑PCT Apprenticeship; flexibility to float to meet patient care needs is expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Completion of one of the following programs: CNA, Medical Assistant, or PCT; or pursuing an associate's/bachelor's in a related field.
• If selected, may enter the HMH PCT Apprenticeship Program and transfer to Mental Health Technician.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care based on age and clinical criteria.
• Communicate with patients, nursing staff and health care team on patient status.
• Support safety, comfort and satisfaction; participate in unit PI activities.
• Assist with patient admission, assessment, procedures, and discharge planning.
• Perform basic clinical tasks (vital signs, specimen collection, EKG) as directed.
