Visa Information

Position Description

This a responsible professional position with limitedadministrative and supervisory duties at the unit level. Specificduties include testing, psychological evaluation and diagnosticservices as well as counseling assigned patient caseload. Thisposition functions under the supervision of a higher level licensedpsychologist, but the individual has full professionalresponsibility for higher actions and advice.

Major/Essential Functions

• Detection of severe mental illness in all inmateinteraction.
• Inmate Risk Management.
• General O/P management of severely mental ill and at-riskinmate.
• Process referrals to medical and mental health providers.
• Correct and thorough completion of all types of clinicalinterviews. Completes all daily documentation by the close ofbusiness each day.
• Processes releases from CDO.
• Reports OPI and inmate threats to others to security asinstructed by Safe Prisons Plan.
• Processes releases from MHO or release from referral toBHF.
• Assessments written based upon balanced clinical judgment.
• Effectively prioritizing job duties while maintaining riskmanagement as a priority. Maintains monthly productivity numbers asset by Behavioral Health Management Team.
• Follows all Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) HealthServices, ACA, TTUHSC policies and procedures and OutpatientBehavioral Health guidelines.
• The MHC responds positively and professionally to supervision,handling constructive criticism with respect. They keep thesupervisor informed of both clinical and non-clinical issues.
• The MHC attends training sessions and reads relevant books toenhance their knowledge and skills, applying the content topractice. They use professional development funds for clinicallicense renewal.
• Professionally completes other unit specific tasks. IncludingSuicide Prevention Screener and Mental health Chain inreminders.
• Performs a variety of marginal duties to be determined andassigned by the Regional Manager, Senior Director of OutpatientServices, direct Supervisor, local Administrator, ordesignees.
• Conducts telehealth clinics as assigned by direct Supervisor orSenior Director of Outpatient Services.
• Ensure all Inmate/Patient reminders are accurate.
