Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist to provide care to individuals with behavioral, emotional, and mental health challenges. You will assist with assessments, treatment planning, admissions, and documentation.

Responsibilities include de-escalation using CPI, group and individual therapies, safety rounds, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. Evening shift with every other weekend and holiday rotation; CPI and BLS certifications required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or Psychology is required.
  • CPI training to be completed within 3 months of hire.
  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire from AHA.
  • Advanced English reading, writing and speaking is required.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to customers and coworkers.
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of people while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to communicate only facts when necessary.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, email and web browsers; comfortable with Windows.
  • Evening shift 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m. with every other weekend and holiday rotation.

  • Provide supportive care to patients and families.
  • Facilitate group and individual therapies; safety rounds and crisis management.

Job description


  • Provide care to individuals with behavioral, emotional, and mental health problems

  • Assist the interdisciplinary treatment team with patient assessments and goal-directed treatment planning

  • Obtain referral information and assist with patient admissions

  • Complete admission assessments excluding nursing components

  • Ensure compliance with legal admission requirements, patient rights, releases of information, and five-day release requests

  • Administer and score assessment scales according to protocol

  • Participate in interdisciplinary clinical staffing and provide pertinent patient information

  • Develop, review, and revise assigned patients' plans of care

  • Complete required documentation and address patient strengths, impairments, and interventions

  • Create and maintain a safe, therapeutic, caring, nurturing, healing, and educational milieu

  • Set behavioral limits and de-escalate patients using CPI techniques

  • Participate in seclusion/restraint procedures, monitor patients, and complete related documentation

  • Provide supportive care to patients and families

  • Conduct safety rounds and assist with conflict resolution

  • Facilitate group, individual, educational, structured, and psychoeducational therapies

  • Apply brief therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy models and Recovery principles

  • Document interventions using DAR format

  • Recognize and report abuse or neglect as required by law

  • Provide situational 1:1 interventions and engage patients in community meetings

  • Interact with parents and significant others regarding programming and patient progress

  • Participate in performance improvement activities, root cause analyses, action plans, and committees

  • Generate process, treatment, and patient-care improvement ideas

  • Precept new employees and complete assignments from the Program Manager or unit committees


Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field

  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training within 3 months

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days from the American Heart Association (AHA)

  • Advanced English reading, writing, and oral skills

  • Ability to respond appropriately to customers and coworkers

  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of people

  • Ability to maintain confidential information

  • Ability to communicate only facts to recipients or decline to reveal information

  • Ability to project a professional, friendly, helpful demeanor

  • Basic computer knowledge, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and web browsers

  • Comfortable using Windows OS and learning new applications

  • Must work evening shift, 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m., every other weekend, and holiday rotation
