General Statement
Under the direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, the Game Room Membership Aide provides clerical support to the University-Student Union (U-SU). The Membership Aide - Game Room is responsible for performing routine clerical tasks and projects to support the effective operation of the U-SU Game Room.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides quality customer service to the University community
- Provides information and referrals about the Game Room, the University-Student Union, and the University to the campus community;
- Provides support with enforcing policies and procedures;
- Greets all guests and directs guests to the appropriate resource;
- Receives and screens walk-in and other inquiries;
- Enters member information in facility management software;
- Registers members for tournaments and room reservations;
- Monitors and maintains all equipment;
- Advises regarding inventory, supplies and other operational needs;
- Provides information to members about programs, policies, and procedures;
- Hosts and organizes tournaments and events as needed;
- Maintains an awareness of all University-Student Union and University activities and events;
- Ensures facility is organized and clean;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled Cal State LA student with a minimum of 6 undergraduate units and a minimum G.P.A. of 2.0, or graduate student with at least 4 graduate units and a minimum Cal State LA cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0;
- Willingness to work with an ethnically diverse and culturally pluralistic student body and staff;
- Ability to interact positively and build effective working relationships;
- Willingness to provide effective customer service promptly and courteously;
- Ability to respond to walk-in and other inquiries;
- Proficient oral, written, and listening skills;
- Strong organizational skills: the ability to prioritize, complete assigned duties, and routine tasks;
- Ability to learn and utilize desktop and web-based applications, and office equipment as needed;
- Certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid from either the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association preferred;
- Previous customer service experience preferred.
