Job summary

YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo in Kalamazoo, MI is seeking a Part-Time Member Services Staff for the Portage location to support member retention, sales, and service at Welcome Centers. Shifts include evenings and weekends, with health screenings and ID verification as needed.

The role requires strong customer service, cash handling, and familiarity with YMCA programs. Training and compliance are emphasized to maintain the YMCA mission and standards.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; experience with membership management software preferred.
• Ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds; Spanish or other commonly spoken language desired.

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent service to members, guests, program participants, and staff through in person interactions, phone calls, and email communications.
• Processes daily membership transactions including tours, member database revisions, program enrollment, auditing, financial assistance processing, and financial transactions.
• Ensures building security; performs health screenings and identification verifications as necessary.
• Effectively responds to concerns, suggestions, and complaints with the goal of a positive experience per YMCA policies.
• Develops awareness and an atmosphere of support for the YMCA and its programs within the community.
• Builds relationships; helps members connect with the YMCA community and highlights the value of Y membership.
• Staffs desk per schedule and fills additional shifts as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Association Membership Director.
