Job summary

Plus One, an Optum Company, is seeking a Member Services and Programming Manager for a university fitness facility in Boston, MA. This role leads daily operations of the Member Services and Programming teams, coordinates scheduling and onboarding, and ensures a high-quality participant experience.

You will develop strong communication across staff, support marketing efforts, manage the membership system, and maintain a safe, welcoming environment for all clients and guests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum three years of fitness center experience with member interaction.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
• Strong customer services and networking skills with clients, guests and participants.
• Ability to engage participants as a public speaker.
• Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of the Member Services and Programming teams, including scheduling, supervision, onboarding and workflow coordination.
• Develop and maintain effective communication systems among staff.
• Coordinate staff responsibilities and resources for fitness programs and activities.
• Ensure programs meet standards and deliver high-quality participant experiences.
• Provide cross-functional training and orientations for new hires.
• Assist the General Manager with marketing, communications, schedules, promotions and member engagement.
• Manage membership and check-in systems with accurate records.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming environment and high service levels.
• Foster inclusivity, collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Provide staffing and program updates to the General Manager and participate in meetings.
