Job summary

Golden 1 Credit Union is seeking a Member Service Specialist III in Sacramento, CA to join our branch team. You will process and audit deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and other transactions while maintaining an accurate cash drawer and delivering excellent member service.

You will identify members' financial needs, promote Golden 1 products, document in EnAct, and mentor MSSI/MSSII colleagues. This non-exempt role reports to the Branch Manager and supports branch operations including ATM tasks

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of prior banking experience preferred.
• 1+ year as MSS II or teller at Golden 1 or another financial institution preferred.

Responsibilities

• Processes and audits financial transactions including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, payments and general ledger entries while maintaining a cash drawer.
• Provides Golden 1 services to members, including cashier’s checks, money orders, savings bonds, wire transfers and transactions, additional sub-shares, and debit card issuance.
• Assesses members' needs while processing transactions.
• Identifies opportunities to help members relative to Golden 1 product or service offerings and documents in EnAct system.
• Identifies and reports fraudulent activity to management and Financial Investigations dept., in accordance with current procedures to prevent potential loss to the credit union.
• Assists in the proper operation of the ATM and Teller Cash Dispenser Units.
• May lead open/close in the absence of MSSI/ MSSII.
• Verifies signature cards in ECM.
• Check acceptance approval within assigned limits.
• Ensures confidentiality of all member and credit union information.
• Maintains current knowledge of all Golden 1 products and services, as well as policies and procedures for teller functions.
• Performs additional responsibilities essential to the operations of the branch (TCR, SBO, Safe deposit box, etc...).
• Opens deposit and specialty accounts (e.g., Roth IRA) and identifies members’ financial service needs.
• Mentors and advises MSSI’s and MSSII’s.
• Develops coaching and leadership skills by training courses.
• Engages in consultative dialogue with members to identify current and future financial needs and documents in EnAct system.
• Enrolls members in online, mobile channels.
• Refer members’ home lending/investment needs to appropriate business partner.
• Process consumer loan applications and completes loan fulfillment.
• Approves signature cards.
• Audits loan reports and coaches as needed to avoid future errors.
• Provide approvals based on authorized limits as assigned by Branch Manager.
• Notarizes member documents.
• Collects medallion stamp request information and sends to MSS IV or above for approval.
• Maintains understanding of state/federal laws related to credit union compliance.
