Job summary

Excel Fitness in Chesapeake, VA seeks a team member to perform daily tasks and contribute to a welcoming gym environment.

You will assist members, maintain cleanliness, handle transactions, and support management in promotions and operations while upholding safety and policy standards. This role requires standing for long periods, good communication, and basic computer skills; training and CPR/AED may be required before working alone.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR Certification and AED Certification are required before working alone; training available within 30 days.
• Comfortable standing for long periods.
• Strong communication with customers.
• Team-oriented, motivated, and well-organized.
• Ability to think critically and evaluate solutions proactively.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and using a computer.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
• Familiar with Excel’s mission, values, and Planet Fitness brand and operational requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform to your best abilities during your assigned work shift.
• Monitor and maintain club cleanliness and atmosphere.
• Stay proficient in Planet Fitness mobile app use, content, and updates.
• Ensure training is completed to operate safely and efficiently.
• Conduct regular audits to ensure the club is presentable and up to Excel standards.
• Perform club walkarounds and complete cleaning or related tasks, then re-inspect.
• Audit and balance cash drawers daily.
• Input and update member information into tablets and POS.
• Ensure members follow policies and guidelines.
• Provide a safe and secure environment for all members.
• Communicate with members and deliver high-level service.
• Stock retail and janitorial items for the shift.
• Understand and adhere to company standards and help resolve day-to-day member issues.
• Audit club inventory and communicate with GM/AM/Shift Lead on orders.
• Stay up to date on required certifications and training.
• Participate in team meetings.
• Communicate with, promote, tour, and assist prospects and potential members.
• Assist GM and AM with membership promotions and operational strategies.
• Ensure compliance with all laws and insurance requirements.
• Operate and assist members with use of equipment and amenities.
