Job summary

Self-Help in Morganton, NC is seeking a Member Service Representative to deliver outstanding member experiences and maintain account relationships. The role involves processing deposits and payments, handling cash transactions, opening new memberships, and promoting credit union products.

Ideal candidates have strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Bilingual English/Spanish is highly preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish highly preferred but not required.
• Minimum one year experience in financial institution or customer service.
• Prior cash handling and customer service responsibilities preferred.
• Teamwork and collaboration are prioritized.
• Excellent customer service skills and effective written/verbal communication.
• Ability to train and use credit union systems and proprietary software.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends; travel to other branches may be required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to organize and prioritize work.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities; proficient data entry.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and lead conversations to identify and assess member needs.
• Maintain and enhance member account relationships with excellent service.
• Process share deposits, loan payments, payrolls, and transfers.
• Disburse cash and check withdrawals.
• Complete member transactions accurately within guidelines or seek exceptions.
• Open new membership accounts and ensure accuracy/compliance.
• Research and address inquiries about services and accounts.
• Promote credit union products and services.
• Refer loan products to appropriate departments.
• Perform outbound calls to members as needed.
• Achieve individual and branch growth goals.
• Identify solutions to support member needs.
• Observe security controls and detect fraudulent activity.
• Back up MSR II responsibilities when needed.
