Job summary

Johnson & Johnson MedTech seeks a Product Development Engineering Intern to support the OTTAVA Surgical Robotic Platform. You will work with engineering, manufacturing and quality teams on NPD/NPI, design transfer and manufacturing readiness.

This role provides exposure to regulated medical device development, tolerance analysis, GD&T and supplier collaboration. CPT/OPT/STEM opt sponsorship notes apply.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• Foundational understanding of mechanical/electro‑mechanical design principles.
• Basic knowledge of CAD tools and GD&T concepts.
• Interest in DFM, DFA, and scalable manufacturing processes.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, development, qualification and stabilization of components and processes for NPD and NPI.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality and suppliers.
• Apply DFM, DFA and cost considerations to assess manufacturability and robustness.
• Support tolerance analysis, GD&T reviews and basic engineering analysis.
• Contribute to design transfer and build readiness activities.
• Support engineering builds, pilot runs and root cause investigations.
• Document risks, action items and design changes under guidance.
