Job summary

Boston Medical Center in Boston is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join the Medical Surgical/6 East team. Under the supervision of an RN, you will provide direct clinical and support services to patients and families, using a patient-centered care model.

The 6 East unit is a 36-bed MedSurg area offering diverse clinical experiences. Applicants should have a high school diploma, BLS/CPR, and the ability to pass competency testing; prior PCT or EMT experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS/CPR certification current or within 30 days.
• Ability to pass clinical competency testing.
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities; basic math and computer proficiency.
• One year PCT experience or current nursing student with two clinical rotations; or PCT/MA/EMT training.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for MedSurg patients and their families.
• Obtain vital signs, assist with bathing, feeding, wounds, hygiene, room care, and emotional support.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and ensure appropriate equipment in MedSurg.
• Support efficient operation and contribute to quality patient/family outcomes.
