Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the MedSurg 6 East unit. The role supports direct patient care under RN supervision and contributes to a compassionate, high‑quality care environment.

Responsibilities include vital signs, hygiene support, and environmental upkeep while maintaining safety and efficiency. The position frames professional growth within BMC’s Magnet‑recognized culture.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS/CPR certification current or within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to pass clinical competency testing.
• Physical ability to perform job duties.
• Basic math and computer proficiency.
• One of: prior PCT in acute hospital, in nursing program with two clinical rotations, PCT training, certified medical assistant training, EMT experience (adult ED).
• Fluency in another language is a plus.
• Previous medical/surgical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take vital signs and assist with daily activities.
• Assist with hygiene, bathing, feeding, wound care, and emotional support.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and properly equipped MedSurg environment.
• Support efficient operation and achieve quality patient outcomes.
