Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Roanoke, Virginia is hiring a Medication Aide to provide quality care and assist with daily living activities. You will support medication administration within the scope of practice, maintain EMAR/MAR documentation, and communicate resident needs to the health care team.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, CNA and Med Tech licenses in good standing, CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 60 days), and the ability to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have completed the Medication Aide Course.
• Must possess both current CNA and Med Tech license from the State Board of Nursing in good standing.
• Must satisfactorily pass 2 medication observations annually.
• Must satisfactorily pass all medication cart audits assigned.
• Must attend 4 additional hours of medication administration education annually.
• Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
• Must be organized and able to work well with all levels of personnel.
• Must be a contributing member of nursing team and follow instruction of supervisor.
• Must be polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and co-workers at all times.
• Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs, and push or carry 25 lbs.
• Must be able to safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanics.
• Must be in designated uniform during working hours, to include name badge and a smile.
• Must be CPR/First Aid certified, or be willing to become certified within 60 days of hire.
• Must be able to represent the community in a positive and professional manner.
• Must attend and complete all required in-services and staff meetings.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to remain calm and competent during emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with medication administration and EMAR/MAR documentation.
• Report resident status and changes to the HCD and nursing staff.
• Perform housekeeping duties as directed to maintain a clean environment.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living and mobility.
• Respond to resident calls and emergencies promptly.
• Support move-in transitions and provide emotional support to new residents.
• Complete medication cart audits as assigned.
