Responsibilities include accurate MOR entries, medication safety, and prompt response to resident calls. Candidates should have at least one year in elder care and a high school diploma with state-specific training.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience in elder care or a long-term care setting.
• Experience in a long-term care community and/or geriatric nursing preferred.
• Knowledge of Medication Observation Record (MOR)
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, residents, families and outside contacts.
• High school diploma or equivalent with state-specific training required for the position

Responsibilities

• Checks the six rights of medication administration three times during handling and administration.
• Assists with medications according to the MOR.
• Documents clearly on the MOR after medications are taken or given, refused, held or changed.
• Maintains a neat med cart/cabinet and restocks as needed.
• Provides treatments as part of each resident's service plan.
• Promotes safe, confidential treatment and responds to resident calls promptly.
• Observes residents for adverse reactions and reports to supervisor immediately.
• Reports medication errors honestly and immediately.
• Adheres to infection control guidelines and OSHA regulations.
• Demonstrates professional behavior with residents, families, staff and visitors.
