Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; state-specific training required.
• Minimum of one year experience; long-care/geriatric nursing preferred.
• Experience with MOR and emergency care/first-aid preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families and staff.
• Clerical and typing skills; MS Office and Outlook preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verify the six rights of medication administration at three points.
• Assist with medications according to the MOR.
• Document on MOR after medication actions; report changes.
• Maintain a neat med cart/cabinet and restock as needed.
• Provide treatments per individual service plan.
• Protect residents’ rights to safe, prompt, confidential treatment.
• Respond promptly to resident calls; respect right to refuse meds.
• Explain medication purpose before administration.
• Observe adverse reactions and report to supervisor.
• Report medication errors immediately; seek guidance if unsure.
• Respond to on-the-job injuries per policy and notify supervisor.
• Report family concerns; adhere to infection control and OSHA guidelines.
• Dispose infectious waste per regulations; act respectfully at all times.
• Perform duties as assigned; know emergency procedures; ensure hygiene.
• Maintain safety for residents and colleagues; disclose impairing medications.
