Job summary
Good Samaritan Canistota offers a Medication Assistant role delivering resident-centered nursing care and daily living support. Under a charge nurse, you’ll assist with daily activities, document care and vital signs, and provide psycho-social support in a compassionate, Christian environment.
The position includes administering prescribed medications under supervision, helping with transfers, meals, and wellness activities, and participating in department committees as needed.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
- Minimum age 18; prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
- Annual continuing education requirements per state; required certifications.
- State CMA/CNA certification requirements may apply (IA/ MN/ ND/ SD).
- May require driver's license and auto insurance where applicable.
Responsibilities
- Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance.
- Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse.
- Document outcomes related to resident care, medication administration, and vital signs.
- Assist with transfers, positioning, mobility, meals, and dining; support psycho-social needs.
