Oddball is seeking a System Architect to lead the CMS team for a Medicare Part A claims system on a COBOL mainframe. You will own the technical integrity and oversee integration with cloud-based services on AWS, while guiding architectural standards.

The ideal candidate has deep COBOL/CICS/VSAM experience, familiarity with Java and API patterns, and proven remote collaboration skills in a federal-facing environment. This is a fully remote role with federal contracting constraints.

Competenze

Extensive COBOL mainframe experience.
Experience with CICS and VSAM.
Ability to design across on-prem mainframe and AWS/cloud APIs.
Authorized to work in the United States.
Experience with Medicare/Medicaid claims is a plus.

Mansioni

Own the technical integrity of the FISS architecture across changes, enhancements, and modernization efforts.
Guide how the mainframe integrates with cloud-hosted components and modern API-based services on AWS.
Define architectural standards and review all technical decisions that touch the core system.
Ensure COBOL, CICS, and VSAM changes are made safely without risk to processing.
Collaborate with modernization engineers working in Java and API development to ensure clean integration patterns.
Serve as the technical escalation point for complex issues across the program.
