Job summary

Advocate Health in Wisconsin is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform and oversee laboratory testing across transfusion services, microbiology, chemistry, hematology, histology, coagulation, and flow cytometry. You will ensure specimen integrity, run quality control, and report critical results with a focus on accuracy and patient safety.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences or Medical Technology, MT/MLS/ASCP certification per policy, and ability to work

• Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include alternate site assignment.

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests within established protocols.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance and reports appropriately.
• Performs calibration, maintenance and repair of instruments; recognizes malfunctions.
• Performs quality control and quality assurance for improvement; takes corrective action as needed.
• Ascertains proper labeling and suitability of specimens; collects specimens from patients as required.
• Provides guidance and training to medical laboratory staff and students.
• Supports turnaround time goals and ensures compliance with accrediting standards in an acute care setting.
• Performs internal and external proficiency testing and supports various departments including ED, ICU and OR during high acuity events.
