Job summary

Advocate Health in Milwaukee, WI is hiring a Medical Laboratory Technician for a full-time, on-site role. You will perform and evaluate lab tests across multiple departments, monitor workflow, ensure specimen integrity, and report results in a timely manner.

The position requires an MLT or equivalent certification within 1 year and an Associate degree in clinical lab technology. Expect a 40-hour work week with M-F 0600-1430 shifts and weekend/holiday rotations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required in clinical lab tech or related field.
• MLT certification within 1 year (ASCP BOC) or AMT within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Performs and evaluates laboratory tests per established protocols and monitors workflow to complete work timely.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance, validity and reporting per policy.
• Calibrates and maintains instruments; performs quality control and corrective actions.
• Recognizes indicators of instrument malfunction and notifies supervisor; participates in proficiency testing.
• Collects specimens from newborn, pediatric and adult patients; ensures proper labeling and suitability for testing.
• Provides technical assistance to Phlebotomists and support staff; contributes to quality improvements.
• Supports transfusion services, microbiology, chemistry, hematology and other specialty areas; aids in high-acuity events in critical care.
