Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Groton, MA is seeking a Medical Technologist II for the Core Lab on a per diem, on-site basis. The role involves performing and interpreting a wide range of chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests to aid diagnosis and treatment, with independence in an assigned area.

The candidate will follow established protocols, interpret complex results, troubleshoot discrepancies, and assist in new test development and quality procedures, while training staff and students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or successful completion of an accredited four-year school of Medical Technology.
• ASCP MT certification preferred.
• Three years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Follows established protocols to perform various tests, including the most complex.
• Interprets and correlates clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis, and clinical condition.
• Troubleshoots testing process discrepancies and ensures quality control.
• Assists in development of new tests and quality procedures for the assigned area.
• Instructs technicians and technologists in the set-up and operation of new equipment and procedures.
