Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Groton, MA is seeking a Medical Technologist for the Nashoba Valley-Core Lab on a per diem basis. The role supports on-site testing across a mixed shift schedule with on-call requirements.

A Bachelor’s in Medical Technology is required, with ASCP MT certification preferred and at least three years of related experience. The position involves performing a range of chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests, interpreting results, and ensuring compliance with quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or successful completion of an accredited four-year school of Medical Technology.
• ASCP certification as an MT is preferred.
• Three years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Follows established protocols to perform various tests, including the most complex, for an assigned area.
• Provides guidance and consultation to Medical Technologist I’s and Medical Lab Technicians in the interpretation of complex or unusual test results.
• Interprets and correlates clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis, and clinical condition in order to explain test results (normal/abnormal).
• Troubleshoots testing process discrepancies.
• Assists in development of new tests and quality procedures for assigned area.
• Ensures that test results meet requirements of the laboratory quality control program.
• Maintains accurate records of tests performed, using computer-based systems.
