Job summary

Jobtailor in Groton, MA is seeking a Medical Technologist with strong expertise in chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic testing across complex assays. You will interpret results in the context of patient history and diagnosis, and provide guidance to MT I and Lab Technicians.

The role includes troubleshooting, developing new tests and quality procedures, ensuring QC, and training staff on equipment and procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or successful completion of an accredited four-year school of Medical Technology
• Three years of related experience
• ASCP certification as an MT is preferred
• Ability to perform and interpret chemical, microscopic, and/or bacteriologic tests
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted unless certification, licensure, or registration is required

Responsibilities

• Perform and interpret various chemical, microscopic, and/or bacteriologic tests, including the most complex tests for an assigned area
• Provide guidance and consultation to Medical Technologist I’s and Medical Lab. Technicians on complex or unusual test results
• Interpret and correlate clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis, and clinical condition
• Troubleshoot testing process discrepancies
• Assist in developing new tests and quality procedures
• Ensure test results meet laboratory quality control requirements
• Perform preventative maintenance and moderately complex troubleshooting, repair, and modification of laboratory equipment and instrumentation
• Assist with rollout of new equipment and equipment modifications
• Instruct technicians and technologists in the setup and operation of new equipment and procedures
• Ensure compliance with laboratory quality and safety policies
• Instruct students in clinical laboratory operations and procedures
• Maintain accurate test records using computer-based systems

• Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and modify complex equipment and instrumentation
• Ability to use computer-based systems for maintaining accurate test records
