Job summary

Jobtailor in Groton, MA is seeking a skilled Medical Technologist to perform and interpret complex chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests that aid patient diagnosis and treatment.

The role provides guidance to MT I’s and Medical Lab Technicians on unusual results, ensures quality-control compliance, maintains equipment, and participates in developing new tests and procedures. ASCP MT certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology from an accredited four-year school.
• Three years of related experience.
• Proficiency in performing and interpreting chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests.
• Fully proficient in using all equipment and procedures for the assigned area.
• ASCP certification as MT preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted unless certification, licensure, or registration is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform and interpret various chemical, microscopic, and/or bacteriologic tests, including the most complex, to aid patient diagnosis and treatment.
• Provide guidance and consultation to Medical Technologist I’s and Medical Lab Technicians on complex or unusual test results.
• Correlate clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis, and clinical condition.
• Troubleshoot testing process discrepancies.
• Assist in developing new tests and quality procedures.
• Ensure test results meet laboratory quality-control requirements.
• Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of complex equipment and instrumentation.
• Assist with rollout of new equipment and equipment modifications.
• Instruct technicians and technologists on new equipment and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory quality and safety policies.
• Instruct students in clinical laboratory operations and procedures.
• Maintain accurate computer-based test records.

• Availability for every third holiday, required on-call duty, and Sunday-through-Saturday/weekend coverage
