Job summary

Jobtailor in Massachusetts is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform and interpret complex chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests in a high-complexity area. You will guide Medical Technologist I’s and Technicians on unusual results and correlate test findings with patient history and diagnosis.

You will troubleshoot discrepancies, support new test development, ensure QC, and maintain equipment, while training staff on new procedures and safety policies, ensuring accurate records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or successful completion of an accredited four-year school of Medical Technology
• Three years of related experience
• Fully proficient in the use of all equipment and procedures for an assigned area
• ASCP certification as an MT is preferred
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted unless certification, licensure, or registration is required
• Required availability for every third holiday, on-call shifts, Sundays through Saturdays, and weekends
• Ability to work mixed shifts

Responsibilities

• Ensure test results meet laboratory quality control requirements
• Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of laboratory equipment and instrumentation
• Assist with rollout of new equipment and equipment modifications
• Instruct technicians and technologists on new equipment and procedures
• Ensure compliance with laboratory quality and safety policies
• Instruct students in clinical laboratory operations and procedures
• Maintain accurate test records using computer-based systems
