Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician/MLS professional to perform CLIA-complexity tests and support patient care in Minnesota. You will assist with screening, diagnosis, and management of diseases, interpreting results in the context of clinical states, and maintaining instruments.

The role requires MLT/MLS credentials with ASCP certifications, 2 years lab experience, and availability for day rotations, on-call shifts, and holidays.

Qualifications

MLT associate degree or CLIA-equivalent testing qualifications.
MLS degree and/or MLS (ASCP) certification with required clinical hours and 2 years lab experience.
MLT and MLS ASCP certifications required within 12 months of hire.
Perform testing in line with CLIA complexity requirements.
Day rotation, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability.
Post-offer screenings and right-to-work verification.

Responsibilities

Perform and report tests of all complexity levels per CLIA on patients of all ages.
Assist with routine screening, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases.
Interpret and correlate test results with disease states and knowledge.
Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure quality results.
Participate in QA and QC monitoring; contribute to research and education.

Job description

Perform and report tests of all complexity levels, as defined by CLIA, on patients of all ages
Assist with routine screening, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and injuries
Interpret and correlate test results with disease states and theoretical knowledge (MLS)
Exhibit complex or highly complex problem-solving skills
Participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Control monitoring
Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation
Process specimens and perform phlebotomy as needed
Provide customer service
Participate in research, development, education, and technical consultation (MLS)

Requirements

MLT: Graduate of an associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technician, or meet CLIA guidelines for the complexity of laboratory testing through an alternative route
MLS: Graduate of a four-year degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, or MLT (ASCP) certified with additional clinical laboratory semester-hour equivalents, 2 years of full-time lab experience, and MLS (ASCP) certification
MLT certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent certification required within one year of hire
MLS certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required within one year of hire
Perform testing according to CLIA complexity requirements
Availability for day rotation, occasional weekends, holidays, and call obligation
Successful completion of post-offer screenings
Verification of legal right to work in the United States
Verification of applicable licensure, certifications, education, and experience
Background checks, including criminal check, urine drug screen, and MVR where required
Health screening and immunization review
