Job summary

Hancock Health in Indiana seeks a Med Technologist to collect samples, analyze specimens, and perform QC and instrument maintenance. You will report results and assist clerical functions, with supervision by the Lab Director and shift supervisors for patient care support.

A BS in medical technology or life sciences, with registry eligibility, is required; ASCP-CPMT is preferred. Excellent customer service and accuracy are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in medical technology, biology, chemistry, or related science; certification or eligibility for registry is expected.
• Must be able to perform QC, instrument maintenance, and troubleshoot as part of lab operations.
• Ability to work interdepartmentally to support patient care.

• The work is subject to review by appropriate supervisors and the Medical Director of the Lab.
• This position requires interdepartmental support activities to more effectively provide patient care.
• This position requires accurate color perception.
• Must have excellent customer service.
• Requires variable work hours and weekend/holiday rotation including some scheduling on all shifts.
• Must maintain high level of accuracy while simultaneously performing a variety of tests/tasks.
• Must be contactable by phone for backup coverage.
• This position reports to shift or department supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor of Science in medical technology, biology, chemistry, or related science; and/or Board-registered or eligible for registry by one of the national registries associated with laboratory practice (ASCP, HEW, etc.). Addendum: Must have degree in Medical Technology and/or baccalaureate degree in one of the life sciences to be eligible to work the bench in Microbiology. Technologists not meeting these requirements will be considered if they have an associate degree in a laboratory science and are experienced in Microbiology.
