Job summary

Jobtailor in Worcester, MA is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/MLS to perform and interpret chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests, supporting accurate diagnoses and patient care.

You will follow CLIA-compliant protocols, maintain instruments, document results in electronic systems, and collaborate with supervisors to interpret complex findings. An ASCP certification as MLT/MT is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in clinical lab science (MLT) required.
• Bachelor's degree in sciences required.
• Degree and coursework must meet high complexity testing per CLIA Sec. 493.1487.
• ASCP certification as MLT/MT preferred.

Responsibilities

Job description

• Performs and interprets various chemical, microscopic, and/or bacteriologic tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
• Follows established protocols to perform a wide range of test in an assigned area.
• Refers to Medical Technologist II’s or supervisory or lead staff members for assistance in the interpretation of complex or unusual test results.
• Ensures that test results meet requirements of the laboratory quality control program.
• Interprets and correlates clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis, and clinical condition in order to explain test results (normal/abnormal) so that appropriate action can be taken.
• Ensures preventative maintenance for equipment in assigned area.
• Performs routine troubleshooting, repair, and modification of a wide range of complex equipment and instrumentation.
• Maintains accurate records of tests performed, using computer-based systems.

Requirements

• Associates degree from a clinical lab science program (MLT).
• Bachelor's Degree in sciences.
• Degree and course work in the sciences must meet the requirements for high complexity testing as defined CLIA Sec. 493.1487 to qualify for hiring.
• ASCP certification as an MLT /MT preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
