Job summary

The Medical Technologist I at Community Health Systems, Inc. performs routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on blood and body fluids under minimal supervision, ensuring accurate results by following quality control protocols and maintaining instruments.

This role supports patient care by completing tests efficiently, troubleshooting equipment, collecting data for regulatory compliance, and may include teaching new staff and performing phlebotomy duties as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field.
Pass the Clinical Laboratory Technology Proficiency examination approved by HHS (HEW).
0-2 years of acute care experience.

Responsibilities

Performs moderate and high complexity laboratory tests accurately and efficiently.
Adheres to quality control procedures and maintains documentation.
Conducts instrument checks and preventative maintenance.
Troubleshoots instrument malfunctions and seeks corrective actions.
Ensures safety regulations compliance and proper PPE usage.
Communicates results and issues with healthcare staff promptly.
Assists with proficiency testing and data collection for accreditation.
Collects urine drug screens and may perform phlebotomy duties.
Collaborates with team to complete shift duties accurately.
