Community Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a Medical Technologist I who will perform routine and high complexity lab tests on blood and body fluids under minimal supervision.

The role supports patient care, ensures accurate results, and may include teaching and phlebotomy duties as needed. Responsibilities include instrument maintenance, quality control, data collection for regulatory compliance, and collaboration with healthcare staff to ensure timely testing and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field required
• Passing score on the Clinical Laboratory Technology Proficiency exam (HEW) required
• 0–2 years of acute care experience required

Responsibilities

• Performs moderate and high complexity laboratory tests accurately and efficiently.
• Maintains quality control procedures and documentation.
• Conducts instrument checks and preventive maintenance.
• Troubleshoots instrument malfunctions and notifies appropriate personnel.
• Ensures compliance with safety regulations and Laboratory Safety Plan.
• Communicates test results and quality issues to staff and supervisors.
• Supports regulatory compliance through data collection for accreditation.
• Performs phlebotomy duties as needed.
• Collaborates with team to complete shift duties efficiently.
• Maintains regular attendance and complies with policies.
