Community Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a Medical Technologist I for Northwest Health Valparaiso FSED.

The role supports patient care by performing routine and high complexity lab tests on blood and body fluids, under minimal supervision, while adhering to quality control protocols. The position requires a Bachelor’s in Medical Technology or related field and acceptable CLT exam scores, with 0–2 years of acute care experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field is required.
• Passing score on the Clinical Laboratory Technology Proficiency examination approved by HHS (HEW) is required.
• 0–2 years of acute care experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs moderate and high complexity laboratory tests accurately and efficiently.
• Adheres to quality control procedures and documents checks and actions.
• Conducts instrument function checks and preventative maintenance.
• Troubleshoots instrument malfunctions and communicates issues promptly.
• Ensures compliance with safety regulations and uses PPE.
• Maintains accurate records and communicates results and issues with staff.
• Assists with proficiency testing and regulatory data collection.
• Performs phlebotomy duties as needed and supports patient care.
