Summary:

Performs various patient testing and administrative tasks supporting clinical activities in UNCHCS.

Hours:

Monday-Friday 3:30pm-12 midnight with 1 in 4 weekends and rotating holidays. Alternative schedules are available and can be discussed.

Responsibilities:

1. Investigates problems with equipment, test results, specimens, and workflow.
2. Participates in teams or performs special projects/assignments.
3. May teach Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents, and train new employees. Serves as a technical resource.
4. Performs quality control and equipment maintenance.
5. Performs routine and specialized tests, including chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic laboratory tests. Observes tests and reactions, providing data.
6. Prepares specimens, reagents, solutions, and filters as required.
7. Reports results to healthcare providers and confers regarding test results.
8. Reviews test results for accuracy and timely correction of errors.

Other Information

Education Requirements: Bachelor's of Science degree. Must meet eligibility requirements to sit for MT exam within 12 months of hire.

Licensure/Certification Requirements: Must obtain certification within one year of becoming exam eligible.

Professional Experience Requirements: No prior experience required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Relevant skills and abilities as needed.
