Job Summary

Position Details: This position is eligible for our Clinical Laboratory Incentive Program. Hours are from 11:00 am to 7:30 pm, with rotating weekends and holidays. Responsibilities include working in the Central Processing, Bacteriology, and Special Microbiology sections, performing specimen processing, testing, Gram stains, rapid antigen testing, culture reading, susceptibility testing, and organism identification. Certifications such as M(ASCP) and SM(ASCP) are acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Investigate equipment, test results, specimens, and workflow issues.
• Participate in team projects and perform training for students and new employees.
• Perform quality control, equipment maintenance, and routine testing procedures.
• Prepare specimens and reagents, and report results to healthcare providers.

Minimum Requirements

For Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist (MLS/MT):

• Bachelor's of Science degree; eligible to sit for MT exam within 12 months of hire.
• Certification within one year of becoming exam eligible (e.g., ASCP).

For Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT):

• Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technology, Chemical Science, or Biological Science.
• Certification eligibility or certification within a year, depending on degree.

Additional Details

Legal Employer: UNC Medical Center, located in Chapel Hill, NC. Full-time, onsite, day shift. Salary ranges from $26.59 to $38.23 per hour for MT and $23.01 to $33.07 for MLT, based on experience and internal equity.
