Summary:
Performs patient testing and administrative tasks supporting clinical activities in the UNCHCS.

Responsibilities:

  1. Investigates equipment, test results, specimens, and workflow issues.
  2. Participates in teams or special projects/assignments.
  3. Provides teaching to Clinical Laboratory Science students, Pathology residents, and trains new employees; may serve as a technical resource.
  4. Performs quality control and equipment maintenance.
  5. Conducts routine and specialized tests, observes reactions, and reports data.
  6. Prepares specimens, reagents, solutions, and filters as needed.
  7. Reports results to healthcare providers and consults regarding test results.
  8. Reviews test results for accuracy and timely correction of errors.

Other Information:

Education Requirements: Bachelor's of Science degree; must meet eligibility to sit for MT exam within 12 months of hire.

Licensure/Certification Requirements: Certification within one year of becoming exam eligible.

Professional Experience Requirements: No prior experience required.
