Job summary

UMass Memorial Health - Harrington Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Technician for the Microbiology Lab. The role requires performing routine and complex tests with independence to deliver rapid, accurate results to physicians.

The position is non-exempt with a 40-hour week; the final offer will vary by scheduled hours. A signing bonus may be available and eligibility confirmed during interviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
• MT (ASCP) certification preferred.
• Proficient in performing clinical laboratory procedures with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests across major areas or concentrate in one area such as Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology or Blood Bank.
• Follow procedures to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment; assist in interpretation of tests.
• Ensure specimen integrity and maintain equipment and quality control procedures.
• Adhere to safety, regulatory, and documentation requirements; train new staff as needed.
