Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to perform a spectrum of tests and report data for patient care. You will operate instruments, ensure quality control, and uphold procedures across major lab areas, including Hematology, Chemistry and Blood Bank.

Travel between campuses may be required. The role demands a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or equivalent, and CLIA high-complexity supervision eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Medical Technology from an accredited school.
• ASCP MT certification preferred but not required.
• Three years of related laboratory experience required.
• Experience with LIS is a plus.
• Qualified to supervise high-complexity testing under CLIA.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of laboratory tests and report data for diagnosis and treatment.
• Follow policies and procedures in Hematology, Chemistry and Blood Bank sections.
• Operate and maintain instrumentation, perform quality control and calibrations.
• Ensure proper inventory, restock benches and manage specimens for testing.
• Provide guidance to junior staff and coordinate testing across multiple areas.
• Travel between Marlborough and Nashoba/Groton campuses as scheduled.

Skills

Three years of related experience

LIS experience a plus

Education

Bachelor’s degree or successful completion of an accredited four-year school of Medical Technology

ASCP certification as an MT is preferred

Must qualify as a General Supervisor under CLIA high-complexity testing

Associate degree in a laboratory science with 2 years of training/experience
