Job summary

UMass Memorial Health, Microbiology Lab, is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist to perform a range of CLIA-defined tests and support patient care in a fast-paced setting in Massachusetts. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science or related field; MT (ASCP) certification preferred.

Candidates should have at least one year of clinical lab experience and demonstrate ability to work under pressure, follow procedures, and maintain quality control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
• MT (ASCP) certification preferred.
• Professional knowledge of medical technology principles, theory, and methodology.

Responsibilities

• Follows established procedures to perform lab tests (CLIA) to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment.
• Assesses acceptability of specimens and maintains integrity throughout testing.
• Performs set up on laboratory equipment and documents maintenance procedures.
• Operates equipment per SOPs to ensure accurate patient results.
• Performs calibration procedures and routine troubleshooting of instrumentation.
• Maintains quality control and notifies supervisor of unusual results.
