Job summary

The Salvation Army Harbor Light in Detroit is seeking an RN/PN to assist the Site Administrator in daily medical department operations. You will manage inquiries, screen admissions for detox services, coordinate admissions and discharges, and ensure proper medical record keeping.

Ideal candidates hold an active PN or RN license, have healthcare experience, and are prepared to support a multi-disciplinary team in a busy, compassionate environment focusing on holistic care and community

Qualifications

• Must hold and maintain a current valid Practical Nurse (PN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Experience in substance abuse preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Site Administrator with day-to-day operations of the medical department.
• Conduct pre-admission screenings of potential clients for detoxification services.
• Schedule admissions and discharges to detoxification and residential programs, including medical chart completion.
• Ensure medical charts and records are properly closed and maintained daily.
• Provide coverage for call offs and no-shows.
• Prepare monthly medical staff schedule and coordinate team meetings.
• Train new medical staff and communicate procedural changes.
• Assist in procuring and inventorying medical supplies.
• Support medical services under the Medical Director and PA as needed.

Summary:

Assist the Site Administrator with the day-to-day operations of the medical department, while still serving in the medical healthcare provider role.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage all inquiries with regards to information, referral, and/or possible admission
• Conduct pre-admission screenings of potential clients for detoxification services
• Schedule detoxification admissions/discharges to detoxification and residential programs, including completion of all required medical documents
• Verification that medical charts have been closed properly
• Provide coverage for call-off’s and no-show’s
• Create monthly medical staff schedule
• Schedule monthly team meeting with the Physician’s Assistant and/or Medical Director
• Conduct staff training for new medical employees and notify current employees of any changes in day-to-day procedures
• Prepare order and inventory of medical supplies with assistance of medical staff
• Take appropriate action as directed by Medical Director to ensure clients medical stability and in cases emergency facilitate assistance per Harbor Light protocol
• Assist Medical Director, Physician’s Assistant, and/or designate in the provision of medical services
• Ensure all records, charts, logs and all other pertinent data for medical unit are maintained on a daily basis

Required Qualifications:
