Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is seeking an RN/PN to assist in the Harbor Light medical department in Detroit. You will support the Site Administrator, coordinate detox admissions and medical documentation, and help maintain daily medical records.

This role requires clinical oversight, staff training, and collaboration with the Medical Director to ensure patient safety and quality care. Ideal candidates hold a current PN or RN license and have experience in substance abuse treatment

Qualifications

  • Must hold a current valid Practical Nurse (PN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Experience in substance use disorder treatment settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Site Administrator with day-to-day operations of the medical department and provide medical provider support.
  • Manage inquiries regarding information, referrals, and admissions for detoxification services.
  • Schedule detox admissions/discharges and complete required medical documents.
  • Review detox protocol applications and ensure medical charts are properly closed.
  • Cover shifts for call-offs/no-shows and assist in ADIA admissions/discharge.
  • Create monthly medical staff schedules and coordinate with the Physician's Assistant/Medical Director.
  • Train new medical staff and communicate procedural changes to current staff.
  • Prepare orders and inventory of medical supplies with staff assistance.
  • Work with Medical Director and others to ensure patient medical stability and emergencies are handled per Harbor Light protocol.
  • Maintain all medical unit records, charts, and logs daily.

Summary:

Assist the Site Administrator with the day-to-day operations of the medical department, while still serving in the medical healthcare provider role.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage all inquiries with regards to information, referral, and/or possible admission
  • Conduct pre-admission screenings of potential clients for detoxification services
  • Schedule detoxification admissions/discharges to detoxification and residential programs, including completion of all required medical documents
  • Review all detoxification protocol applications
  • Verification that medical charts have been closed properly
  • Provide coverage for call-off's and no-show's
  • Conduct ADIA admissions/discharge for detoxification clients
  • Create monthly medical staff schedule
  • Schedule monthly team meeting with the Physician's Assistant and/or Medical Director
  • Conduct staff training for new medical employees and notify current employees of any changes in day-to-day procedures
  • Prepare order and inventory of medical supplies with assistance of medical staff
  • Take appropriate action as directed by Medical Director to ensure clients medical stability and in cases emergency facilitate assistance per Harbor Light protocol
  • Assist Medical Director, Physician's Assistant, and/or designate in the provision of medical services
  • Ensure all records, charts, logs and all other pertinent data for medical unit are maintained on a daily basis
Required Qualifications:
  • Must have and maintain a current valid Practical Nurse (PN) or Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Experience in substance abuse preferred
