Job summary

TalentBurst is seeking an RN for Med/Surg/Telemetry in Shelby, NC. This 13-week night shift contract requires 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, and duties include stroke and respiratory cases with telemetry monitoring.

Expect 75% holiday coverage and potential regional float. Onsite assignment with Epic EMR and standard nursing responsibilities across the unit.

Qualifications

• 18 months Med/Surg/Tele RN experience required.
• RN licensure in NC or multi-state preferred.
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Night shift 12 hours/day, 3 days/week.
• Care for Med/Surg/Telemetry patients including stroke and respiratory cases.
• Potential to float within Region 3 as needed.
• Respond to call backs and holiday coverage as required.

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses

• Stroke, Respiratory Illnesses: Flu/Pneumonia/COVID, Renal Failure, Peritoneal Dialysis, Wounds, etc.

Patient Ratios

• RN: 1:5-6; surge staffing could have ratios of 1:7-8
• LPN (if applicable): 1:5-6; surge staffing could have ratios of 1:7-8
• CNA: 1:10

Required Licensure & Certifications

• RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Skills required

• Basic Med/Tele skillset: Cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating Cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, Central line management, etc.

• Virtual RNs can act as 2nd RN Witness for certain meds, can closely monitor patients requiring special monitoring, can assist with Admission/Discharge items, etc.

Floating

• Within region and scope of practice
• Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable

  • If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
