Job summary

The Marion, IL VA Medical Center is seeking an entry-level Medical Support Assistant (MSA) in Nursing Operations Medical/Specialty. The MSA will handle front desk duties, take calls, schedule and reschedule appointments, review patient records, and verify insurance information to support patient care.

Salary reflective of GS-03 level with potential advancement; telework is AdHoc and not a virtual position. Work schedule is 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday.

Qualifications

• Entry level MSA position
• Experience with patient data systems helpful
• Strong communication and computer literacy required

Responsibilities

• Perform front desk duties and answer telephone calls and visitors
• Schedule, review, and adjust patient appointments
• Verify demographics and insurance information for patients
• Assist in processing physician scheduling and administrative orders
• Coordinate information related to patient care and services
• Refer questions to appropriate clinical staff as needed
