Job summary

Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) seeks a part-time Simulation Lab Technician to operate and program simulators, ensuring facilities and equipment are ready for teaching sessions. You will work with faculty to meet course needs, participate in planning, and troubleshoot a range of simulators from mannequins to virtual reality systems.

The role requires knowledge of medical lab procedures, strong communication, and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Serve as simulator operator by programming, testing and running scenarios.
• Participate in event and scenario planning meetings to advise on capabilities.
• Understand simulator technologies from models to VR simulators.
• Responsible for maintenance and repair of computerized mannequins.
• Integrate EHR and electronic documentation into simulations.
• Provide communication and feedback to the Manager on needs identified.
• Assist with special projects or initiatives as needed.
• Collect data to support research and commercial projects.
• Communicate professionally with faculty, students, and clients.
• Engage with external presenters and simulation specialists for collaboration.
• Identify and coordinate facility and operational improvements.
• Participate in strategic action plans and program improvement.
• Assist with or lead other projects as needed.
• Utilize and maintain medical equipment (IV pumps, ventilators, AEDs).
• Prepare and apply moulage to standardized patients and simulators
