Job summary

St. John’s University in New York City seeks a Simulation & Virtual Reality Laboratory Technician to support simulation and VR delivery, operating and maintaining A/V equipment, mannequins, and related software.

You will work with the Simulation Center Director and faculty to implement technologies, troubleshoot hardware and software, manage inventory, and train staff in equipment use and safety in a diverse academic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, communications, related field or equivalent experience or Associate degree with five years of related work experience, preferably experience with healthcare simulation.
• Minimum of two years of IT support experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows Media, etc.) and ability to troubleshoot complex hardware/software issues.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including ability to communicate technical information to a diverse population.

Responsibilities

• Sets up simulation equipment and learning technologies to meet faculty and student needs.
• Prepares supplies and equipment for simulation labs.
• Repairs and maintains equipment as required or initiates repairs for equipment under warranty.
• Communicates with manufacturers regarding maintenance, repairs, updates, and technology changes as directed by the Director of the Simulation Center.
