Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Medical Administrative Aide for the Gastroenterology department in Indianapolis, IN. This full-time role supports providers by documenting encounters, transcribing orders, and recording procedures, with a Monday–Friday schedule 8:00 am–4:30 pm.

Responsibilities include accompanying the provider to exam rooms, listing diagnoses and instructions, and ensuring accurate charting and orders.

Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable experience required.
• Preferred credentials (LPN/LVN or Medical Assistant) may substitute for education/experience.
• Professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Accompanies provider into the patient examination room to document the provider's encounter with the patient .
• Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions as indicated by the provider.
• Transcribes patient orders including but not limited to laboratory tests, radiology tests and medications.
• Documents procedures performed by the provider.

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • None Required.
• Preferred Credential(s):
  • Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse.
  • Medical Assistant.

Education
