Job summary

Saint Francis Healthcare System is seeking a Centralized Scheduler to manage surgical, appointment, and procedure scheduling at the request of physicians and patients. The role includes transcribing and scanning orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) and maintaining related work queues.

The position also covers patient registration tasks, insurance verification, and initiating medical necessity checks.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in a medical environment with scheduling duties preferred.
• Medical terminology knowledge or Administrative Partner experience.
• Professional and courteous manners when dealing with customers.
• Ability to exercise appropriate and timely independent judgement.
• Computer experience and familiarity with electronic records systems.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgeries, appointments and procedures as requested by physicians and customers.
• Transcribe and scan orders and H&Ps into the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Maintain scheduling work queues and process schegistrations for patients.
• Verify insurance benefits and eligibility as part of the scheduling workflow.
• Initiate medical necessity checks for surgeries, appointments and procedures.
• Assist physicians and staff with scheduling-related needs and questions.
• Maintain the master physician listing and ensure adherence to department procedures and reimbursement requirements.
