Job summary

The Centralized Scheduler at Saint Francis Healthcare System schedules surgeries, appointments and procedures at the request of physicians and customers. You will transcribe and scan orders into the electronic medical record and manage scheduling work queues, verifying insurance benefits and eligibility as part of patient care.

You will initiate medical necessity checks, support physicians and their staff, and maintain the master physician listing while ensuring compliance with department

Qualifications

• One year of experience in a medical environment with scheduling duties preferred.
• Medical terminology knowledge or prior Administrative Partner experience.
• Professional and courteous manners when dealing with customers.
• Ability to exercise appropriate and timely independent judgement.
• Computer experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgeries, appointments and procedures as requested by physicians and customers.
• Transcribe and scan all orders and H&P into the EMR.
• Maintain scheduling related work queues.
• Verify insurance benefits and eligibility for patients.
• Initiate medical necessity checks on surgeries, appointments and/or procedures.
• Support department needs and assist physicians and staff as required.
• Maintain the master physician listing for the medical center and ensure compliance.
